At the heart of the film is state moose biologist Lee Kantar, whose decades of work in the field are captured with unprecedented access. From aerial collaring missions to winter tick research, the film provides a rare look at the day-to-day science behind moose conservation in Maine’s rugged North Woods.
More than a wildlife documentary, "Guardian of the Giants" is a story of stewardship - of the people who cherish this species and the landscape it calls home. It is a tribute to the connection Mainers feel to the moose, and a reminder that its future rests in our hands.
