Donald Trump just told us exactly what he plans to do: suppress the vote and control the outcome.
In a post today on Truth Social, Trump announced he intends to sign an executive order that seeks to ban mail-in voting nationwide. He says states should take orders from the President on how elections are run. And he says Vladimir Putin – the authoritarian leader of Russia – told him during their summit in Alaska last week that mail-in voting “rigged” the 2020 election.[1]

We’ve seen this before. Trump’s goal has never been to expand participation – it’s to narrow the electorate until only his supporters remain. His targets are always the same: Black voters, Brown voters, young voters, and working-class Americans who dare to vote against him.
And while Trump is preparing this assault from the top, Texas Republicans are leading the ground game. They’re moving to pass a new gerrymandered congressional map this week that would eliminate five Democratic seats ahead of the 2026 midterms.
