The war on drugs is a tool of racial oppression. It must end.
Friend,

In case you missed our email, here’s a recap:

The war on drugs has always been a tool of racial oppression. Drug involvement, whether real or perceived, is used to justify violent and often deadly punishment at the hands of law enforcement.

We must end this disastrous war on drugs and dismantle a system that chips away daily at the very core of our humanity.

With your support, DPA will pressure elected officials and institutions to end the use of ‘drugs’ as a cover to disregard the dignity and sanctity of human life. Donate now to end the drug war.

The war on drugs is a tool of racial oppression. It must end!

Friend,

The price of the drug war will always be disproportionately paid by communities of color.

In fact, the war on drugs was designed as a tool of racial oppression. The very first drug laws in the US were targeted at communities of color – from Chinese immigrants to Mexican migrants to Black people. Today, nearly 80% of people in federal prison for drug offenses are Black or Latinx.

Drug involvement, whether real or perceived, is far too frequently an excuse for violent and often deadly punishment at the hands of law enforcement. No one deserves to die for perceived or actual drug use!

We need your help to hold our elected officials and institutions accountable and end this drug war once and for all. If you didn’t sign our letter to Congress yet, we urge you to add your name now to demand police reform.

If you have already signed it, please make a donation to help us end this racist drug war. Ending the drug war will not end racism. It will, however, dismantle one excuse the police use to justify their violence and killings time and again.
