Trump deployed the National Guard in D.C. and gave Pam Bondi control of
the D.C. Metropolitan Police Department because according to Trump, “the
nation’s capital has been ‘taken over by violent gangs and bloodthirsty
criminals.’”

So…apparently Trump cares about crime. But we know that’s just not true
because the real bloodthirsty criminals are the gun lobby, which Trump
protects. 

The real facts are that violent crime in D.C. — which includes homicide,
armed carjacking, and assault with a dangerous weapon — is at a 30-year
low.

Trump wants to be a dictator, and that’s why he’s using “crime” as an
excuse to take over D.C.

And that’s just Trump,
John. We have smoke for Pam Bondi
too. 

Pam Bondi’s legacy is one of cowardice and opportunism. She used gun
violence survivor’s pain to advance her career and then sold out to the
NRA and the far-right.

We know the truth: Real safety doesn’t come from federal troops flooding
our neighborhoods. It comes from passing strong gun safety laws and
funding proven violence intervention programs that save lives.

Three weeks ago, we brought mobile billboards to DC to remind everyone:
Pam Bondi will always side with power, even when it means betraying the
people she’s sworn to protect.

If Bondi really cared about our communities, she would use her office to
hold the gun lobby accountable for the deadly violence they enable. But
she won’t — unless we make her.
