John,
The Trump administration is taking aim at the fundamental rights of home care workers.
The Department of Labor is proposing a rollback of minimum wage and overtime pay protections for already marginalized, vulnerable, and underpaid home care workers.
How can our government slash pay and strip protections from essential home care workers while showering billionaires with tax breaks?
Drastic cuts to Medicaid already threaten the livelihoods of so many care workers, while CEOs of healthcare companies and the ultra-rich receive massive tax breaks. We can’t let the Department of Labor institute a new federal rule to take away minimum wage and overtime from home care workers.
Can you submit a public comment to the Department of Labor right now? Don’t let the Trump administration gut care worker rights! [[link removed]]

This is an attempt to devalue domestic workers . Taking away fundamental pay protections at the same time that Medicaid cuts hit would be devastating for home care workers.
For decades, domestic workers have been excluded from labor protections like the federal minimum wage and overtime rules. In 2013, workers and allies fought and won these rights for home care workers. Now, the Trump administration is making a blatant attempt to strip away the minimum wage and overtime pay that so many rely on — all only to benefit the companies that exploit the home care workforce.
If our coalition — workers, families, and allies — send in messages to the Department of Labor, we can pressure them to keep these labor rights intact. The comment period will close just before Labor Day, and it’s critical that we keep up a steady wave of messages in support of home care labor rights before then.

The majority of domestic workers sit at the center of some of our nation’s most decisive issues because of who they are and what they do: they are women – mostly women of color, immigrants, mothers, and low-wage workers. They are impacted by almost every policy affecting the future of our economy, democracy and country.
Domestic workers can lead us toward a new, inclusive vision for the future for all of us -- and your grassroots support is the fuel that can get us there.
