Happy 818 Day!

Every year on 8/18, we gather to celebrate the 818 — the beauty of our communities in the Valley and all they have to offer our city.

Today, the Mayor is out and about in the SFV with Angelenos, visiting the small businesses that make the Valley great, meeting with community organizations to celebrate their contributions to Los Angeles and highlighting progress thus far.

We are making great strides in delivering for Valley communities, including work to:

  • Reduce street homelessness and bring more than 750 people in the Valley communities inside.
  • Launch the first-ever coordinated action plan in the Sepulveda Basin to reduce public safety threats.
  • Prepare the Valley to host fan activations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup and the 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
  • Make the Valley safer through the Mayor’s comprehensive approach to public safety by surging law enforcement resources when crime spikes.
