United States: With fighter jets roaring overhead, a crimson carpet unfurled, and the slogan “Pursuing Peace” emblazoned upon the walls, President Donald Trump extended an elaborate welcome to Vladimir Putin on Alaskan soil. The summit, however, concluded abruptly and left behind a haze of unanswered questions.
For nearly three hours, the two leaders conversed behind closed doors. When they emerged, they declared “progress” but offered no tangible explanation of what had been achieved. Their press event ended as suddenly as it began — both leaders stepping away without a single question answered.
The reality was stark: no agreement materialized. The ceasefire Trump had initially demanded remained a distant aspiration, with responsibility increasingly shifted toward Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
“We had numerous points of consensus — most, I’d say,” Trump remarked beside Putin. “A couple of significant ones remain unresolved, though strides were made.”
