Each month we hold Planning Commission meetings and present to the Board of Island County Commissioners (Board) on topics relevant to Island County’s 2025 Comprehensive Plan Update. Below are our upcoming meetings and engagement opportunities. Planning Commission – Public Hearing Aug. 20 Planning Commission will meet this Wednesday, August 20 at 6 pm for a Public Hearing on the Countywide Planning Policies changes needed to reflect the reassessment of housing allocations and reduction of the population projection. Materials are available in the agenda center. Board of Island County Commissioners Meeting Long Range Planning will be at the Board’s regular session on Tuesday, August 26 with minor code updates for the Freeland Non-Municipal Urban Growth Area to support workforce housing. Materials will be available in the agenda center later this week. Transportation Element – Online Open House and Survey How do you get around in Island County and what kind of transportation improvements are needed? Tell us what YOU think! The County is updating the 20-year Comprehensive Plan and the Transportation Element is a critical piece of this update. Whether you walk, bike, roll a wheelchair, ride transit, or drive a vehicle, we want to hear your opinion about the current and future transportation system for Island County residents. The online open house and community survey is available until September 1 at https://www.islandcountytesurvey.com/ The online survey should take less than 10 minutes for you to complete and will help inform County plans for many years to come.
