I’m not emailing you today asking you to contact grocery chain executives, or read about an investigation, or add your name in support of legislation protecting animals. Because these are the things you’ve been doing every day, tirelessly, and I know that level of compassion and commitment takes a toll.

Today, I just want to know how you’re doing. So, if you’d like to, reply to this email and let us know.

Summertime is about freedom, sunshine, movement … possibility. All the things we want, not just for ourselves, but for the animals. Feeling the warmth of the sun. Having the space to run and spread our arms (or wings). Taking the time to rest and recharge. These are the things that sustain us.

Standing up and speaking out for animals shouldn’t drain us. It should lift us up. This message is your special reminder to take care of yourself and find a little moment of joy. Because every living being deserves joy, and that includes you.

Thank you for being you. Extraordinary people like you bring me joy every single day.
