** Ask the Hard Questions
------------------------------------------------------------
August 18, 2025
My first career was in education. Though I taught at the college level, the best classroom advice I received was from my elementary school teacher. She said, “When students get loud, you need to get quiet. Not louder.” Sometimes, in order to make a difference in the communities we serve, we need to step back and hear what is needed from us before acting. When we do speak, we need to ask the right questions—and to listen thoughtfully to the answers, especially important now as all areas of justice have fallen under attack and it’s difficult to know where to begin. So today, we’re asking the hard questions.
This issue has:
* A Deep Dive ([link removed]) – Urgent and timely research you need now on the rising costs of AI on the climate sector.
* A Case Study ([link removed]) – What’s the impact of the end of an essential tool migrants used and how can advocates support migrants through a no-longer functional system?
* Strategic Vision ([link removed]) – How movement leaders can move beyond resistance toward durable, structural transformation.
* Voices from the Movement ([link removed]) – Insight from women in the queer community directly impacted by Medicaid cuts and new laws from Trump.
Often the quieter voices in the room may be the ones we most urgently need to hear, and to learn from.
