At this month’s WFP Assembly, we will be giving space for our community to come together, process what happened in El Paso earlier this month, and talk about ways we can confront white supremacy.

John —

Earlier this month, a white supremacist drove ten hours to El Paso and opened fire in a Walmart, killing 22 people and wounding dozens more. In the shooter's own words, he said he wanted to “stop the Hispanic invasion” and took inspiration from the hateful words of Donald Trump.

This horrific attack marks one of the deadliest hate crimes against the Latinx and immigrant community, and sadly follows a horrific pattern of mass murder at the hands of white supremacists against the Latinx, Jewish, Black, Muslim, LGBT, and Sikh communities.

WFP is a political community built on connection, meaning, and belonging around our shared values and interests. When communities get hurt, when they experience trauma, they come together. At this month’s WFP Assembly, we will be giving space for our community to come together, process what happened, and talk about ways we can confront white supremacy.

Will you join us this Sunday, August 25 at 8pm ET/5pm PT, for a critically important WFP Assembly that will tackle the issue of white nationalist terrorism, while also giving space for us to build community together?

Speakers on this call will include:

  • Eric Ward, from Western States Center, who will talk about how we can challenge the terrain upon which white nationalists are building their movements, while strengthening our own movements to withstand the attack.
  • Candi CdeBaca, Denver City Councilmember and WFP champion, who will talk about how she is using her elected office to fight back against private prisons.
  • Eric Stoltz, El Paso resident, who will talk about why he's a WFP member and why WFP is needed in El Paso.

Together, we will unpack the trauma of white supremacy and domestic terrorism that has been directed at our communities and accelerated by our nation’s gun violence epidemic, in order to heal and renew our commitment to multiracial democracy rooted in radical solidarity.

RSVP to join the discussion this Sunday, August 25 at 8pm ET/5pm PT.

And thank you for being a part of this community, John.

In solidarity,

Team WFP
