The role of attorneys general in the resistance against Trump’s chaotic, lawless administration.
Let’s talk about attorneys general — because this work has never been more important.
There’s more to AGs than just weird pluralization (yes, it’s “attorneys general”). Right now, the 23 Democratic AGs across the country are the first and last line of defense against the extreme overreach of the Trump administration.
You might be wondering – where are all the Republican AGs in this? Ditto! Despite the fact that people who live in red states are being harmed by this lawless administration too, GOP AGs are nowhere to be found. The work of protecting the rights of all Americans and holding Trump and his allies accountable to the law comes down to Democratic attorneys general — and we’ve got a full tank of gas to get it done.
We are blocking and stopping Trump’s unlawful, unconstitutional conduct consistently, and we will continue to do it as long as he continues to break the law.
But how does all of this work?
I think of Trump’s violations in two main categories:
- When he and his administration withhold congressionally appropriated funding — funds for things like education, transportation, and health care that Congress has already specifically allocated. The Constitution clearly gives Congress the power of the purse, NOT the Oval Office.
- When he comes after our rights and freedoms — like birthright citizenship, the right to vote, and freedom of speech. These are rights that no president has the power to trample over, period.
No matter how he breaks the law or violates the Constitution, we sue — and we’ve already had major successes over the past seven months, including blocking Trump’s unlawful actions 14 times.
It’s that simple — every time Trump breaks the law, we sue.
If he stops breaking the law, we’ll stop suing.
To those who have read this far — thank you. If you believe in this work, and you want us to keep up these important fights against Trump’s lawlessness, I’m asking for your help.
Will you make a donation of any amount to my re-election campaign? I’m on the ballot next year, and we are going to need all hands on deck to win these fights.

I’m incredibly grateful for this team, because I wouldn’t be here fighting for our rights and freedoms without you.
Thanks for reading.
