Friend,

I'm gonna let you in on a dirty little secret about the corporate media.

They want Donald Trump to win.

Don't believe me? Here's what Les Moonves, the former head honcho at CBS
said back in 2016:

It may not be good for America, but it's damn good for CBS . . . The
money's rolling in and this is fun. I've never seen anything like this,
and this is going to be a very good year for us. Sorry. It's a terrible
thing to say. But, bring it on, Donald. Keep going.

Though the corporate executives who run major news outlets have learned
not to say things like this publicly, they know that Trump is ratings
gold. That's why they handed him $5 billion worth of free TV time in
2016. And it's why he's president today.

They simply can't take their eyes off the Trump show, letting his
deranged Twitter feed drive the news cycle while ignoring deadly serious
issues like the climate crisis.

Common Dreams is the antidote to the ratings- and clickbait-obsessed
infotainment industry that passes for news today. But to run a quality
independent news operation free of corporate ads or a pay wall, we need
your support.

We set a goal of raising $75,000 by the end of our Mid-Year Fundraising
Drive on July 1. Will you make a donation today to help us reach that
goal?
