FIRST: Donald Trump claimed he needed to federalize the DC police to patrol the streets of the nation’s capital because of rising crime, even though crime rates are actually lower than they’ve been in decades.

THEN: Trump and Pete Hegseth put their authoritarian plans into action by deploying the National Guard to intimidate Americans in their own communities.

NOW: Our troops are distracted from their core mission of keeping our nation safe, which puts our readiness and national security at risk.

John, we don’t need to tell you that our nation’s military does not belong on the streets of our cities, especially when the reason given by the President isn’t even true.

Just as we saw in Los Angeles, Trump is once again breaking down the trust between U.S. citizens and our military, demonstrating his complete lack of respect for the U.S. military in the process.

This is not about the military’s best interest or promoting “law and order,” it’s about undermining democratically-elected leaders and consolidating his own power.
