First and foremost, I wanted to say thank you. I know my team and I have been reaching out a ton lately, so I’m beyond grateful that you’re taking the time just to read this message.

But to be completely transparent, I’m not only sending you this email to keep you in the loop with our campaign. I’m also sending you this email to ask for your support and help me make sure this competitive seat doesn’t fall to someone who backs Donald Trump’s cruel agenda.

Listen, writing these emails asking for your hard-earned money is my least favorite part of the job. I’d much rather send you a long list of bulletpoints of what I’m fighting for in Washington, and not have to worry about deadlines or budget crunches for even a second.

But that’s just not the way politics works right now, as much as I wish it did. The cold, hard truth is that these fundraising emails are necessary, because National Republicans and their super PAC allies are raising huge sums of money to take Democrats like me down — and we can’t just hope that their attacks won’t stick. We have to fight them ourselves.

Losing this seat is not an option. If KS-03 flips, Republicans are essentially guaranteed to keep their House majority — which would mean two more years of completely unchecked power in the White House.

But if we hold this seat and flip the House blue, it’s a different story.

So yes. This is a fundraising email — because even if we don’t like it, winning in politics requires an enormous amount of resources.

So I have to ask: If you believe in what I’m fighting for in Washington — like lower costs, a fair economy, LGBTQ+ equality, and so much more — will you rush a donation to help me defend KS-03? National Republicans are already sharpening their attacks, so we need all hands on deck to fight back.
