I believe government can work better.
That’s why I’m sharing my Save You Time and Money Agenda.
From the maddening experience of trying to get an appointment at the MVC to the inability of our state government to complete critical projects on time and on budget, we’re not being well-served by Trenton right now.
You can read the full plan to make government more effective and transparent by clicking this link, but I want to share a few quick points here:
- Customer experience: You should be able to complete simple tasks online, get your benefits in a timely manner, and get someone on the phone when you need help. Government exists to serve residents, and right now, New Jerseyans are jumping through hoops to get to important services, like unemployment, disability services, or Medicaid.
- Starting a small business: I met a woman in Jersey City who was ready to open a restaurant but was waiting on licensing — all the while paying rent. I’m going to cut processing times and make it easier for small businesses to navigate licensing, permitting, and regulations. I’ll turbocharge the Business Action Center and dramatically expand outreach so that the state government is an ally to small businesses, not an impediment.
- Growing a business: To secure our energy future, lower costs, and fix our mass transit, we need to be able to complete big projects on time, and on budget. I’ll expedite critical projects and hold state agencies accountable to transparent, enforceable timelines.
The state government touches our lives in big and small ways every day, from our commutes to our property taxes, and I believe that a more transparent and effective government affects nearly every issue New Jerseyans care about.
I’m running for governor to make Trenton work for New Jerseyans. Thank you for reading, and thank you for believing in me to fight for this state and its people.
Sincerely,
Mikie
