Dear Neighbor,
As summer winds down and a new school year begins, I’m grateful for the opportunity to connect with so many members of our community across Pasco, Hernando, and Citrus Counties. From engaging with small business owners and senior advocates to participating in local events and forums, these conversations provide invaluable insights that guide my work in Washington. In this update, I’m excited to share some recent highlights and important initiatives aimed at supporting families, strengthening our economy, and enhancing safety throughout our country. Please continue reading to learn more about my efforts on your behalf.
Learning from You: I recently had a productive roundtable discussion with small business owners and community leaders in Citrus County. We explored the favorable tax provisions included in the One Big Beautiful Bill, agreed on the importance of extending the Premium Tax Credit to prevent increases in healthcare premiums, and discussed additional measures they believe Congress can take to help small businesses thrive.
I also enjoyed hearing from local residents at my Take A Stand events in Hernando and Citrus Counties. During these monthly sessions, constituents have the opportunity to speak for five minutes on any topic they care about. We had some great dialogue, and I look forward to continuing the conversation at future events. These sessions, along with other listening forums I’ve held throughout the district, provide me with valuable input that I will bring back to Washington. If you would like to sign up for a slot at our next session, please contact my office at 727-232-2921.
I was honored to provide a legislative update at the Land O’ Lakes Rotary Club. It was a wonderful opportunity to engage with community leaders, share recent developments in Congress, and discuss how ongoing legislation impacts our district. I appreciate the thoughtful questions and meaningful dialogue, and I look forward to continuing to work together to address the needs of our community.
I was proud to recognize the dedicated employees of Withlacoochee River Electric Co-operative by entering an extension of remarks into the Congressional Record to honor their outstanding efforts in restoring electricity to those in need. Last week, I had the privilege of presenting those remarks in person and thanking our local linemen for their tireless dedication.
I was grateful for the opportunity to speak to local business owners at my “Cone with Your Congressman” listening session at Culver’s in Hernando. It was a meaningful way to connect with local voices, provide updates on legislative activity in Washington, and hear directly about the issues that matter most to our district. I appreciate the engaging discussion and look forward to continued collaboration to serve our community effectively.
Last week, I also had a great discussion with small business owners in Pasco County. It was inspiring to hear firsthand about the challenges and opportunities they face in today’s economy. We talked about supporting small businesses through fair tax policies, access to resources, and reducing unnecessary regulations. Small businesses are the backbone of our community, which is why we included many provisions in the One Big Beautiful Bill designed to help them thrive and create more jobs right here at home. Thank you to everyone who took the time to share your insights!
Additionally, it was a pleasure meeting with members of the Pasco-Hernando Chapter of the Florida Assisted Living Association. These dedicated senior advocates work tirelessly to ensure our community’s seniors can age with dignity and independence. During our conversation, I highlighted how seniors will benefit from key provisions of the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, as well as the important investments being made to support their children and grandchildren.
Welcoming Back Students: As this new academic year begins, I wish all students and educators a year filled with growth, discovery, and success. Here’s to a productive and inspiring school year ahead — let’s make it the best one yet!
Strengthening Safety Protections: We must take stronger action to stop the dangerous spread of counterfeit drugs and hold bad actors accountable. As co-founder of the Domestic Pharmaceutical Manufacturing Caucus, I believe the best way to protect patients and ensure safety is by increasing the production of essential medications right here in the U.S. I’m committed to advancing this critical priority. Community Connection
I am fortunate to have a team of dedicated staff who regularly attend events throughout our community, especially when I am required to be in Washington, DC. Through their collective efforts, I am better able to stay connected to the issues that matter most to my constituents. As part of my commitment to developing a better understanding of the issues facing constituents in Citrus, Hernando and Pasco counties, members of my team attended several events last week. Here are a few highlights.
My team had the honor of attending the Change of Command Ceremony at CENTCOM to welcome Admiral Charles B. Cooper as he assumes leadership in his new role.
My team also honored our local heroes by participating in this year’s Purple Heart Breakfast in Citrus County.
Additionally, my team visited a local veteran and senior advocate at Clear Sky Rehabilitation Center who is currently recovering from a serious injury.
Constituent Corner
My team recently received this message from a constituent after helping her with an IRS problem.
This is just one example of the work we do each day. Constituent services are a critical element of our congressional office. The federal government is a massive operation, and my office is available if you ever need assistance in navigating the bureaucracy or cutting through red tape. We are here to serve you!
