DACA Recipients Keep Getting Detained, Despite Protections [[link removed]]
Every day, there is a new headline. A new rumor to chase down. A new rule to memorize before it changes again. It’s relentless. It’s exhausting. And the instability is by design. For DACA recipients, they’re a nightmare realized. On the ground, words echoed by administration officials are already affecting communities — showing up in arrests at airports, workplaces, and outside corner stores.
Trump’s Immigration Policies Make Americans Less Safe [[link removed]]
The reconciliation bill President Trump signed last month increased Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s detention budget by more than 300%, making the immigration enforcement machine’s budget comparable to that of some foreign armed forces. ICE has begun hiring thousands of new agents; it is trying to lure recruits with $50,000 signing bonuses, and last week Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem lifted the age cap for new ICE hires. Six months into his second term, Trump’s immigration policy is what many feared it would be when he was elected.

Last week, a federal judge ordered the Trump administration to improve conditions at an ICE field office in New York City. The government facility, which is being used to detain migrants, received scrutiny after reports [[link removed]] emerged of overcrowding, unsanitary conditions, and a lack of basic hygiene products and edible food.
As more funding is injected into detention with the passage of President Trump’s spending bill, we’ll continue to see detention facilities pushed to the brink.
