They started with LA and now troops are being deployed in D.C. under the pretext of fighting crime, even though crime has dropped significantly in the nation’s capitol. The White House has threatened to send the military to other cities using the same pretext. Meanwhile, the Pentagon has been ordered to create a rapid response “Reaction Force” in case of civil unrest.
Where will they go next? What are the broader implications of Trump’s involvement of the military in domestic affairs? Is this a case of creeping fascism, where the military slowly but surely walks the streets of our cities?
