URGENT DEADLINE ALERT: Earlier this month, a donor put up a challenge match tripling every single gift to help environmental candidates win this November. The goal is $250,000 through the end of this month — just three days away.
I hate to say this, friend, but we're coming up short.
The stakes of an election have never been higher. Since we launched our electoral program, LCV Victory Fund has been a 24/7 operation. Just a few weeks ago, new polling indicated that Senate seats in key battleground states are now in play: Montana, North Carolina, Arizona, Colorado and Maine are all within our reach — something we never could have predicted just months ago.
Things are changing fast, but if we don't reach this goal —
we could be forced to give up on a race — one that we otherwise could have won.
Friend, we cannot afford to slow down. If anything, we need to be increasing our efforts to do all that we can to elect leaders at every level of government who will actually take science seriously and who will put an end to Trump's racist and destructive policies.
We're still about $12,000 short, and the deadline is just THREE DAYS away. Will you make an emergency triple-matched donation today? Just $5 will make a huge difference »
We have a real shot at winning in November — not only does our polling indicate that the Senate is in play, but voters in key swing states are turning away from Trump by growing margins. It's because of his racism. His corruption. His narcissism. His denial of science. His failure to live up to this critical moment.
Things are changing, and quickly — but the other side knows it too, and they're preparing to put up a massive fight.
This week, there was a primary election in Kentucky. Since the 2018 election, the number of polling places in Kentucky shrank from 3,200 to just 200. Jefferson County — which is home to 600,000 voters, including half of Kentucky's Black population — only had one polling place in the entire county. On election night, as hundreds of voters stood in line to cast their ballots (during a pandemic, no less!), poll workers had the nerve to lock the doors — even though those voters who had arrived on time still had every right to cast their ballots.
This is not an accident. This is blatant voter suppression — and as the coronavirus continues to spread, things are only getting worse.
But you know what this means? This means that the other side is scared. They know that we have the votes to win, and they will have to resort to dirty tricks like the ones we saw in Kentucky in order to beat us.
We can't let that happen. We need to mobilize like we never have before — now. We are investing in a series of high-impact, high-frequency digital ads. We are running a targeted direct mail program in critical battleground states, including Arizona, Michigan, and North Carolina.
And the polls say they're working.
We can't afford to let up — even for a single day. But we are running out of resources.
The challenge match deadline is just three days away — and we can't afford to miss our goal. Please, friend, will you make an emergency donation to our electoral efforts today? Even $5 will make a big difference right now »
The road ahead is long, and it is going to take enormous effort, from all of us. But I know that we can do this, if we do it together.
Thank you, friend, for standing with us. We couldn't do this without you.
Onward,
