Good morning! I hope your coffee is perfect and your view is beautiful this morning.

Before I go one iota further with the personal stuff, I want to sincerely thank each and every one of you who have purchased a bundle and/or subscribed to my Patreon account. It means so much to me that you truly want to see The OP go on - enough to put money toward it. I have been a grateful weeping puddle since this fundraiser began.

We are very close to our goal of getting out of the negative and keeping this site - this community - afloat. A few more purchases and subscriptions will get us there.

Any purchase would be very helpful. I've put four complete Organic Prepper anthologies on sale in one bundle, starting as low as $5.

If you want to offer your sponsorship for the year ahead, you can subscribe to our Patreon. This monthly income helps us cover our recurring costs.

Thank you, thank you, thank you.

Let's change the subject before I get weepy again...

I had a burst of inspiration last week and I'm getting really close to finishing Haven Hill. I love this story for its realism - I love how Kate is using her prepper skills, gear, and mindset to save herself and her daughter. I've learned that my preparedness has come in handy in far more settings than the SHTF, and I really enjoy showing that through fiction. What we're all preparing for? It's not just an epic disaster. It's everyday life, which can regularly throw us a curveball. I hope to have this story finished within the next two weeks - it's flowing beautifully right now.

I mentioned a few weeks back that I had an appointment for another mobility issue. (You know, because one at a time isn't enough.) It appears that I have degenerative arthritis, worst in my neck and spine, and the ankle I had surgery on. So, that's something I've been seeing a few different doctors about. A lot of the damage is rooted in my lifelong hypermobility. (I've always been alarmingly, freakishly flexible, and I'm seeing a doctor regarding my extra-bendy soft tissues as well.) As well, it's possible that my two years of immobility and surgeries have hastened this, and it would've happened eventually anyway.

While it can't be corrected, it can be managed, and that's what I'm working on. I have a prescription that is really making a difference, a delightful heating pad that is like a cape that drapes over my neck and shoulders that makes me rethink my vow never to get married again, and a referral for more physical therapy.

I know that as preppers, we don't like to rely on prescription medications. What happens when it all goes sideways? I have a few thoughts on that.

First of all, what if it never goes completely sideways in our lifetime? Are we then putting off relief and a better quality of life for no reason whatsoever?

Secondly, what if it does go sideways? Obviously, you'll be stockpiling your medication so you can safely wean yourself off of it (if it's something you can do that with). You'll make it last as long as you can. But until then, don't you deserve to feel better? Feeling better means you will be able to do more things to be as fit as you can, you will be able to collect more enjoyable experiences, and you'll be able to be better prepared because you'll have the energy and verve to do so.

I don't like taking a lot of medication, but if the difference is absolutely crippling pain, all day and all night, all the time, sign me up. Not all modern medicine is a deadly trap, and I urge you to do what's best for your body right now.

I'm not telling you to go sign up and become a slave of Big Pharma. Of course, you must do your research, you must weigh the pros and cons, and it depends on how much your issue is affecting your daily life.

If the right medication can make a significant difference in a serious, life-altering issue, then I think you should consider it.

This all adds up to my philosophy of enjoying the here and now. I'm so glad that I traveled, did crazy hikes in multiple countries, did competitive cycling when I was younger, and played sports. I will always, always tell you to take the trip, do the exciting thing, and make the leap. That's what life is all about. You don't want to look back at a life spent waiting until the "perfect time" to do those things.

It's going to be a scorcher here today and our AC is on the blink. (Why couldn't that have happened during faux fall, I ask you?) I'm off to close the blinds and turn on all the fans in the hopes of keeping our apartment under 80 degrees! Hopefully they'll be by to fix it tomorrow. A part has been ordered and my fingers and toes are crossed!

Have an absolutely wonderful Sunday. And thank you again, from the bottom of my heart, for your support.

Stay safe.

Be happy.

Love,

Daisy
