It’s been a busy week full of supporting President Trump’s America First agenda, but I wanted to take a moment to update you on the important work we’re doing to advance our conservative values.
I applaud President Trump for moving to federalize D.C. and deploy National Guardsmen to crack down on crime and arrest criminals. One of President Trump’s main duties in office is to keep citizens safe, and he’s doing that by restoring order in the District of Columbia. The D.C. government has lost control of safety and public order. Between their feckless mayor and push to lessen criminal penalties for thugs, it is a perfect storm for crime, chaos, and destitution. Whether it’s carjackings, assaults on administration staffers, armed robberies on the Metro, or assassinations of embassy officials, the city is unsafe—even in broad daylight. Just this month, there was a Wild West-style shootout in a D.C. neighborhood that involved dozens of juveniles.
As President Trump so rightly stated, “If our capital is dirty, our whole country is dirty.”
The Trump administration has been adamant about restoring law and order. U.S. citizens and foreign visitors are safer because of it. I look forward to experiencing a more secure D.C. when we return in September.
President Trump signed an executive order to roll back regulations issued by the Biden administration on financial institutions so they can explore the viability of including alternative investments in retirement plans, such as 401(k) accounts. These assets include real estate, digital assets held in actively managed investment vehicles, longevity risk-sharing pools, and private market investments. Expanding the types of investments held in 401(k)s offers new opportunities for those saving for retirement. This innovative executive order could open up market access and improve investment outcomes by providing hardworking Americans with the same range of opportunities as professional institutions.
A federal judge in Montana just threw out a 2024 decision by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service to deny Endangered Species Act protections for gray wolves, a move that could recklessly pave the way to relisting. In Minnesota, gray wolves have exceeded recovery goals and are now a menace to livestock, pets, and wildlife, especially up north. Both Republicans and Democrats alike have tried to delist them to allow state-level population management efforts, but extremist environmentalist groups like the Sierra Club are using the courts to keep these wolves listed forever (and fundraise off of it too!). Rural Minnesotans know the real costs of these decisions, and it’s our farmers and ranchers who pay the price. This is why I co-sponsored and wholeheartedly support the Pet and Livestock Protection Act, which delists the gray wolf, ends judicial meddling, restores state control, and ensures Minnesotans—not some judge hundreds of miles away—decide how to manage our wildlife populations.
