I want to tell you about a few things that are important to me, John, so I hope you’ll give me just a minute or two of your time today:
Public education: My mom was a public school teacher right here in North Carolina, and I attended public schools all the way from kindergarten through university and law school. Our future leaders are learning in public schools today. I believe every child deserves an excellent public education — no matter where their parents live or what they earn — and I’ll make public education a priority in the Senate.
Health care access: Expanding Medicaid was one of our most impactful accomplishments during my service as Governor of North Carolina. America is the richest country in the world, and every one of us deserves the care we need to stay healthy — and bringing Medicaid Expansion to NC helped more than 670,000 people get it. But the entire Medicaid system is now at risk because national Republicans decided to slash Medicaid funding and give a handout to the rich instead. I will fight to save Medicaid for all Americans.
Voting rights: North Carolina has been a proving ground for the GOP’s worst efforts to undermine voting rights and access. They’ve enacted ultra-partisan gerrymanders and restrictive anti-voter laws. In the wake of a 2024 election loss, Republicans even launched a lawsuit attempting to throw out tens of thousands of valid ballots and change the result. We must defend and expand voting rights to ensure that every one of us can have our fair say in our democracy — and we have to be prepared for the GOP to try to steal future elections that they lose.
John, I know we share many of the same values, beliefs, and hopes for our nation’s future. I’m ready to do everything in my power to make this country better for all of us, but I need your help to make it to the U.S. Senate. Can I count on you to donate $5 or more right now?
I appreciate all your help in this fight,
Roy Cooper
