John, one short year ago, the Supreme Court ruled 6-3 to give every sitting president immunity under the law if they commit a crime while in office.
You know as well as I do that this is downright stupid.
Now, anyone who winds up in the White House will have the unchecked ability to abuse their power and break the law. And when we have a 34-time felon kicking back in the Oval Office? Buckle up, America.
That’s why I joined my Democratic colleagues to introduce the Presidential Accountability Amendment. This constitutional amendment would reverse the Supreme Court’s power-hungry decision, restore the original vision of immunity established in our Constitution, and reopen legal avenues to hold Donald Trump accountable.
