John, across the country, teachers are stepping into classrooms full of hope… and fear, returning to a reality no classroom should face: the threat of gun violence. As they plan seating charts and lesson plans, they are also identifying hiding spots in case of emergency.
John, teachers and students shouldn’t have to worry about the threat of gun violence in the classroom. But sadly, that’s the reality.
Just listen to educators in their own words: A fifth-year teacher in Minnesota told us, “I feel afraid to teach because I don’t want to die.” Another in New York wondered, “What can we realistically do in a classroom when facing weapons of mass murder?”
Or as one Kansas teacher put it, “Students shouldn't fear for their lives, parents shouldn't worry if school is safe, and teachers shouldn't fear going to work.”
That’s why Teachers Unify is empowering teachers to become advocates for real change by providing the training and resources needed to turn our network of educators into activists. To answer these questions and eliminate these fears.
John, we don’t have the resources that the gun lobby has. But if you stand with us today, we will have the resources needed to make our schools safer for all.
