Cleaning Up Our Capital 🧹
<[link removed]>
Before Washington, D.C. came to be, Congress had to meet up all over the
place. It wasn’t until1790
<[link removed]> that President
George Washington picked a pretty spot along the Potomac, gave it his namesake,
and started building a place for us to congregate.
But if General Washington could see the nation’s capital today, I have a
feeling he’d be appalled.
Folks in the media like to keep beating the “crime is down”
<[link removed]>
drum—but down from what? An all-time high!? Let’s be honest, Washington
bureaucrats have set the bar pretty dadgum low over the past few years.
If you don’t believe me, headlines don’t lie. Hill staffers have been stabbed
<[link removed]>
just blocks from the Capitol.Shootings
<[link removed]>
are happening before sundown in neighborhoods that were once considered
“upscale.” And thecarjackings
<[link removed]>
? Don’t even get me started. One Senator said he doesn’t evenbuckle up
<[link removed]>
anymore—just in case he’s gotta get out in a hurry—and I don’t blame him.
We’re talking about the capital of the United States of America—a place that
should welcome diplomats and leaders from around the world with pride. Instead,
they’re greeted by homeless encampments, blaring sirens, and that eerie feeling
where you just know you should keep your head on a swivel.
What was once a “shining city on a hill” is now a complete dump.
So, President Trump is taking matters into his own hands to restore
<[link removed]>
law and order—and the Democrat Party, the champions of chaos, are in full
meltdown mode. After he brought in theNational Guard
<[link removed]>
to get this filth under control, the Left started in with their typical
hysterics, acting as if basic law enforcement is some sort of attack on
democracy. But we all know the truth: They just hate anything President Trump
does. The man could cure cancer and they’d still find a reason to complain.
Heck, even a wildly liberal MSNBC hostadmitted that people on his side of the
aislearen’t being honest
<[link removed]>
about this whole thing.
Either way, the crime crackdown
<[link removed]> is long overdue. A city
that can’t keep its streets safe can’t lead the rest of the nation.
Washington, D.C. should reflect the greatness
<[link removed]>
of America—not serve as a cautionary tale.
More Quality Time In Tennessee 🧡
The highlight of this week? Meeting with Education Secretary Linda McMahon to
talk about ways we can boost literacy for our kids. Young folks are the future,
and it’s our job to make sure they have the tools they need to succeed.
I also visited Mechman Alternators to see the craftsmanship that goes into
building made-in-America car products—right here in East Tennessee. It’s
hardworking folks like these who keep our economy running!
The Tennessee Valley Authority’s River Forecast Center was another visit to
recap—talking with the experts who manage everything from flood control and
hydropower to recreation and clean drinking water. Their work touches just
about every part of our daily lives.
Of course, no week is complete without a little time with Theo
<[link removed]>, our office dog. He’s
convinced he’s the real boss around here, and honestly, he may be right.
