John,
Last week, news broke that Donald Trump fired the Commissioner of Labor Statistics after the agency released a jobs report he didn’t like and replaced them with a political loyalist.
He’s also been spreading false claims that the jobs numbers were “rigged” against him.
When our leaders undermine the independence of agencies that track jobs, wages, and unemployment, they aren’t just hurting trust in government, they’re hurting working families. Businesses, workers, and communities rely on accurate economic data to make decisions that affect paychecks, hiring, and investments.
That’s why I’m introducing legislation to make sure no President can fire the Commissioner of Labor Statistics for political reasons.
Because when extremists start rewriting the facts to fit their agenda, our democracy and our economy are both at risk.
If you agree that economic data should be honest, accurate, and free from political manipulation, I’m asking you to join me in this fight by adding your name.

Together, we can protect the truth, hold extremists accountable, and make sure our economy works for everyone.
