John,
After getting five of his first judicial nominees confirmed by the Senate,
Donald Trump just unleashed a new slate, and they’re just as extreme.
[ [link removed] ]Reuters: Trump picks five new judicial nominees in Alabama, Mississippi
We need to urge every Senate Democrat to stand firm and vote to block ALL
five of these picks. [ [link removed] ]Will you fuel our work right now with a grassroots
contribution?
This newest batch of nominees would serve on federal trial courts in
Alabama and Mississippi, and many of them have a track record of attacking
reproductive and LGBTQ rights.
One of the latest picks is current Alabama Solicitor General Edmund
LaCour, who Democrats successfully blocked from reaching the bench in 2020
when he was nominated during Trump’s first term.
LaCour has a history of opposing commonsense gun reform and abortion
rights. He even argued a 2022 case before the U.S. Supreme Court in
defense of redrawn congressional districts that “violated the 1965 Voting
Rights Act by diluting the voting power of Black residents,” according to
Reuters.
With our rights — from voting in free and fair elections to making
important health care decisions — under rabid attack by Republicans right
now, we can’t afford to let more Trump nominees like LaCour receive
lifetime positions on our courts.

their power to block the confirmation of Trump’s hand-picked judges: pitch
