*2.  Security Summit: Protect against tax identity theft with multi-factor IDs, Identity Protection PINs, IRS Online Accounts*

In the fourth installment of its special summer news release series [ [link removed] ], the IRS and its partners in the Security Summit highlight the importance of multi-factor identification and the IRS Identity Protection PIN in the defense against identity thieves.

The IRS also encourages all tax pros and taxpayers to establish an IRS Online Account for secure access to IRS account information online [ [link removed] ]. By establishing an account, tax pros and individuals can prevent fraudsters from opening IRS accounts on their behalf.

Tax professionals should stay connected to the IRS through subscriptions to e-News for tax professionals [ [link removed] ] and IRS social media sites [ [link removed] ].

*3.  Tax relief for West Virginia disaster victims*

________________________________________________________________________

The IRS is providing tax relief for individuals and businesses in parts of West Virginia [ [link removed] ] affected by severe storms, straight-line winds, flooding, landslides and mudslides beginning on June 14. These taxpayers now have until Feb. 2, 2026, to file various federal individual and business tax returns and make tax payments.
