Imagine this, John:
A corrupt president is trying to rig the election rules so he can hold
onto power — no matter what it takes.
His political allies and enablers see what’s in it for them and fall in
line, silencing millions of marginalized voters who refuse to let the
corruption continue.
And when lawmakers fight back against the corruption and defend democracy,
the party in power threatens to hunt them down and arrest them, just to
ram through their corrupt plan.
If you saw that on the news, you’d probably think democracy was collapsing
in that country.
But let’s be clear: this isn’t some far-off dictatorship. It’s happening
right now — right here in America. Right here in Texas.
Texas’ Governor, Greg Abbott, is currently threatening to arrest political
opposition, unilaterally remove them from office, and replace them with
his political puppets simply because they stood up to defend the voting
rights of millions of Black, Latino, and working-class Texans.
It's racist. It’s illegal. And it's all to appease Donald Trump and rig
the midterm elections in his favor.
To Republicans, this sounds like a win: a rigged map, silenced voters of
color, and another Republican trifecta for Trump to control.
But to me, this sounds like an authoritarian takeover. It’s a five-alarm
fire. Plain and simple. And if we don’t fight back, they’ll get away with
it.
The people of Texas deserve to have their voices heard and deserve to
choose their elected officials. That right doesn’t belong to one governor,
a president, or Donald Trump. It belongs to the people.
So I’m fighting back, but I need you with me.
I’ve seen what Texans can do when we organize. I’ve seen us rally,
protest, and refuse to let corrupt politicians take our power. And I know
we can do it again — but only if we do it together.

now to help us organize Texans to fight back against Trump and Abbott's
authoritarian schemes?

A movement is only as strong as the people in it. Let’s show Trump and
Abbott that we’re not giving up without a fight.
