[fossil fuel industry (oil, gas and plastic) has influenced the negotiations]([link removed])
Dear John,
Early this morning in Geneva, Switzerland, a large number of ambitious countries—supported by civil society including Plastic Pollution Coalition—refused to accept a weak UN Plastics Treaty that would have been a win for polluters who created this crisis. The negotiations will resume at a later date, and [we need your help to continue our work]([link removed]).

Plastic Pollution Coalition worked alongside a powerful global movement of Indigenous and frontline leaders, scientists, lawyers, businesses, and health experts to successfully motivate countries to refuse to accept a weak treaty text and instead continue to push for a strong treaty that will limit plastic production, reduce toxic chemicals, and prioritize our fundamental human right to a safe and healthy environment.
Despite delay tactics from petrostates, growing industry lobbyist presence, and the repeated silencing of civil society we witnessed in the Palais des Nations, we remain hopeful and committed to keep pushing back.
This is a once-in-a-generation opportunity. [It is critical we don’t lose momentum]([link removed]) towards an effective treaty that will stop plastic pollution and its toxic impacts. Thank you for standing with us.
Onward,
[Madison Dennis]
