John,
No matter where you live, in a red state or blue state, in a swing district or not, Social Security is a universal promise of economic security. But now that promise is under threat by an administration that has cut thousands of Social Security experts and replaced them with an unreliable AI chatbot.
Social Security field offices have lost an estimated 20% of their staff. In-person and phone wait times are getting longer. Now, Trump’s Social Security Commissioner has announced that paper checks will stop being mailed out next month, putting an additional barrier between us and our earned Social Security benefits.
All this week, Social Security Works and our allies have been sending hundreds of thousands of messages to Congress, demanding they fully fund the Social Security Administration and rehire staff.
This past week of activism culminates in Saturday's critical, national day of action. Together with our allies, we’ve organized “Protect Our Checks” rallies across the country. We’ll be in major cities and swing districts, demanding Congress and the White House get their hands off our earned Social Security benefits.

The Trump administration’s goal is to break Social Security, then say it isn’t working so they can hand it over to Wall Street. Trump’s Treasury Secretary admitted as much last month when he said their goal is the “backdoor privatization of Social Security.”[1]
At 90 years old, Social Security is the most beloved and successful social insurance program in U.S. history. But by making our earned benefits more difficult to access, they’re undermining faith in the program.
If you can’t attend a “Protect Our Checks” rally this Saturday, click here to donate to power our campaign to hold the Trump administration accountable to the 70 million people who rely on Social Security every month.
The Trump administration’s attacks represent the greatest threat to Social Security yet. We must remain loud and stay in the streets to say in one clear voice: Hands off Social Security!
Thank you,
Michael Phelan Social Security Works
