The good news is that Joe Biden now leads Donald Trump by 14 points nationally.
The bad news? Trump has seen the same polls we have -- and he’s decided that if he can’t win in a fair fight, he’d better fight dirty.
That’s exactly why Trump is ramping up his attacks on vote-by-mail.
Even though almost two-thirds of swing state voters think all Americans should be able to vote by mail in the fall, the president has condemned the practice -- resorting to baseless claims and conspiracy theories about fraud and corruption in order to keep ballots out of the hands of millions of Americans.
Here are the facts: the states of Washington, Colorado, Hawaii, Oregon, and Utah already conduct their elections by mail. And states that haven’t taken proper election preparation measures -- like Georgia and Wisconsin -- have seen their primaries devolve into a chaotic scene of long lines, lost or mixed-up ballots, and closed polling places.
That cannot happen in November. If it does, Trump will win, or at the very least, be able to dispute Biden’s victory amid all the confusion.
But right now, that’s the future we’re headed for. Help us change it before it’s too late.
