Friends — I know it’s Saturday, but I promised to keep you updated on attacks on the Affordable Care Act. President Trump crossed the line this week.
It’s truly shocking that in the midst of a pandemic that has killed more than 120,000 Americans, President Trump is asking the U.S. Supreme Court to eliminate the Affordable Care Act without replacement.
This is cruel and wrong.
Because President Trump and Bill Barr’s Department of Justice are attacking Obamacare instead of defending it, it’s up to Democratic Attorneys General to defend Obamacare at the Supreme Court. We are fighting to protect health care for seniors who rely on prescription drug discounts, young adults covered by a parent’s plan, and those with pre-existing conditions who could not access health care prior to the ACA. We expect to prevail.
I will never stop fighting for the 800,000 Washingtonians who rely on the ACA for health care.
Doing this work is why you elected me Attorney General and why I’m determined to keep fighting to protect what matters most — in this case, your health care — from attacks by any threat.
I’m relying on help from Democratic grassroots supporters like you, team. I have a big fundraising deadline coming up on Tuesday at midnight so I have to ask — can you chip in $10 or anything you can so I can keep my re-election campaign on track?
I’ll update you again when I have news on this case.
Enjoy your weekend — and thanks.
Bob
