Dear Friend,
Members of BCTGM Local 1 have been on strike against Teasdale Latin Foods in Hoopeston, Ill. since June 1 after Teasdale negotiators took an unnecessary hardline during contract negotiations.
The workers, who can, pack and distribute a variety of beans that are sold under the Teasdale brand, are asking for simple things: No take-aways from their current work schedule and no outsourcing of their Union jobs. They don’t want a two-tier wage system that weakens their Union and sows division within the workforce.
Unfortunately, Teasdale negotiators have adhered to a ‘last, best, and final’ offer that includes all of these extreme proposals.
Help Local 1 tell private equity owner TruArc they must hold their portfolio company Teasdale accountable for their bad faith bargaining!
Many of the workers in Hoopeston have worked for Teasdale for decades. They are hard-working, loyal and dedicated to the company.
At this time little, if any product is currently being made for customers like Walmart, Aldi and other supermarket chains due to the work stoppage. This could have long-lasting consequences for Teasdale’s relationship with its customers.
Given these facts, TruArc Partners, the private equity company that owns Teasdale, has an urgent responsibility to help their portfolio company end this dispute.
Help us apply pressure by adding your name and sending a pre-written letter to TruArc now!
Your solidarity means more to our members than you know. Thank you in advance for your help in getting them back to work!
Don Woods, BCTGM Local 1
