This is outrageous —

The Trump administration has asked the Supreme Court to strike down the Affordable Care Act — a move that could eliminate health care, including protections for people with pre-existing conditions, for millions of Americans in the middle of a pandemic.

I told you. Outrageous.

Look, when I was a child, I had a severe illness that put me in the hospital for three months. Even though I fully recovered, my grandparents, who raised me, were unable to get me insurance at any price because I had this previous illness.

Like 133 million Americans, I know what it's like to have the label "pre-existing condition" attached to my care — and before the Affordable Care Act was passed, many of us could be denied coverage.

So, you can imagine my frustration when Donald Trump and his administration continue their never-ending crusade against the ACA and its protections. If their latest move is successful, it would completely upend the health care law as we know it and end its protections smack dab in the middle of a public health crisis.

Trump has no plan to protect people with pre-existing conditions. He never has. He never will. That's why my colleagues and I introduced a resolution to save those protections, but Mitch McConnell has refused to allow a vote on it.

The only way we can protect our health care from Trump and his Republican allies is by flipping the White House and the Senate in November. Will you donate $10 before this Tuesday’s FEC deadline so I can spend more time campaigning for Democrats across the country and less time fundraising? I wouldn't ask if it wasn't important.

If you've saved your payment information with ActBlue Express, your donation will go through immediately:

You deserve leaders who work tirelessly to ensure every single person has access to quality, affordable health care, regardless of whether or not they have a pre-existing condition (and especially during this crisis). I am going to keep fighting to make sure we get those leaders elected this fall, but I need your support.

Thank you for standing with me.
