Hi John, Last year marked the 50th anniversary of the Stonewall Riots -- an act of protest, led by trans Black women, that has inspired so many LGBTQ+ Americans and allies to push for equality every year since. Even though we’ve come a long way since 1969 in Greenwich Village -- and our LGBTQ+ community has grown and changed for the better -- we still have a long way to go until every single one of us truly has equal rights. I’ve always said that being gay is my superpower -- it empowers all of us in the LGBTQ+ community to show our courage, take action, and fight for what’s right. And Pride is our annual opportunity to celebrate our incredible community, stand together, redouble our efforts for change -- and have a really good time doing it. I know that COVID-19 has made Pride 2020 unlike any other -- and likely changed many plans of gathering for parades and celebrations. But social distance doesn’t have to get in the way of celebrating our LGBTQ+ community.
