Dear Neighbors, 

I wanted to share a quick update to let you know about an upcoming event in our community next week.

Our community is grieving the tragic death of 9-year-old Adam Amin. I want to honor the family and their loss, while bringing our community together to share suggestions, concerns and experiences. The start of school is just a few weeks away in Moorhead, and I’ve heard from many parents that are worried about our kids’ safety walking and biking to and from school - and it’s an issue that hits home for me too.

In response, I’ll be hosting a Safe Routes to School Community Conversation, where we’ll be able to have a conversation about how to best ensure a tragedy like this doesn’t happen again. 

The event will be held on *Thursday, August 21, from 5-7pm* at the Vista Center for Education [ [link removed] ]. 

I'll be joined by leaders from Moorhead Public Schools, the Kurdish American Development Organization, and other elected officials from Moorhead and the legislature to discuss how we can make our streets safer for our children.
