Some of you have talked to me about supporting Eva’s campaign. Others may know me personally (lucky you).

For those who don’t, my name is Joe Bader and I’m married to Eva. Together we have 4 successful campaigns in the last 6 years — yes, we count those in our house.

I was there when Eva first thought about running for Flagstaff City Council. She did, and she won that campaign. Then, she won the next campaign to raise the minimum wage in Flagstaff to $15.50 an hour — the highest in the nation at the time. Then, she defeated an effort by a Koch Brothers dark money group to repeal the minimum wage. So far, she’s undefeated.

But it’s been an honor to stand next to Eva on this particular campaign. Running for Congress is an entirely different game, and it takes an exceptional person to consider doing it in the first place, let alone run a 100% grassroots campaign. Whether it’s helping her coordinate volunteers or just being an ear to talk to after a long day, it’s amazing to see Eva’s passion and drive take this campaign from an idea to a living, breathing movement.

Every day, people across the district and the country are getting to know the Eva I know and love — a fierce advocate for just and bold progress for regular people in this country. I couldn’t be more proud.

With just 38 days until our primary election, I can’t help but reflect on what Eva and the campaign has accomplished.

We have knocked on more than 17,000 doors.

We have dialed almost 140,000 phones.

And on August 4, we will replace an out-of-touch Republican-turned-Democrat with Eva, a real progressive Democrat and send her to Congress.
