This past week, I helped lead the fight to eliminate Tarrant County’s bloated Human Services Department, an agency so inefficient that it cost taxpayers $2.42 to deliver just $1.00 in assistance.

That is government at its worst, and I wasn’t about to let it continue.

By moving these services to trusted local nonprofits, we will save taxpayers $1.7 million and put another $1 million directly into helping people who need it, without the waste, bureaucracy, and overhead that swallow up your hard-earned money.

The opposition wanted to keep the status quo. They wanted to keep throwing away your tax dollars while delivering less to those in need. I know better. Fiscal responsibility and real help for our community go hand in hand.

Yesterday, the Commissioners Court held its hearing to propose the FY26 Budget, and early this September, they will meet to approve a ceiling for the proposed tax rate. Make no mistake, Judge O’Hare will stand up for YOU, the taxpayer.

Preliminary approval was given yesterday for a budget with a tax rate BELOW the No New Revenue rate. Once final, this would mark the 3rd year in a row Tarrant County has adopted a Tax Rate below the No New Revenue rate. 

As always, the big-government crowd will be back to impose their will upon Tarrant County, both in September and next election. The fight is far from over. If you believe in a leaner, more effective county government, I need you with me right now.
