California Governor Gavin Newsom is calling for a special election to redraw the state’s maps and defend fair representation.

This news comes on the heels of Republicans in Texas trying to manipulate their odds in the 2026 elections by gerrymandering their congressional map. And Republicans in other states are beginning to follow suit.
