As I previously shared, Donald Trump is pushing Republican-led states to illegally gerrymander their Congressional districts mid-cycle and outside the normal census timeline in order to rig the 2026 elections in their favor to maintain absolute political power. California Democrats in our state legislature are working with Governor Gavin Newsom to call a November 2025 Special Election to give voters the chance to approve temporary new California Congressional district lines that will offset MAGA Republicans attempts in states like Texas to unfairly gain Congressional seats and maintain control of Congress.
As such, CYD will need to consider position(s) on proposed ballot initiative(s) that are expected to be proposed and appearing on ballots in a November 2025 Special Election. The legislature is expected to vote on a special election and measure(s) next week when they return to work in Sacramento.

Voting will begin Thursday, September 4, 2025, at 4:00pm and conclude Sunday, September 14, 2025, at 11:59pm. Republicans in Congress shamefully passed their multi-billion-dollar millionaire tax break bill to benefit their wealthy campaign contributors on the heels of Trump signing the big ugly federal budget last month that strips health care away from millions of struggling and working-class Americans.
Trump is worried that these bankrupt reverse Robinhood policies MAGA Republicans are implementing will cause Americans to backlash and vote Democrats into Congress. WE MUST FIGHT BACK and take back Congress for the future of America!
