Trump is once again misusing the National Guard, deploying upwards of 800 troops in Washington, DC, along with 500 federal law enforcement agents. He is using troops to promote his false claims of rising crime rates despite the fact that in 2024, they hit their lowest level in 30 years.
Trump has authorized police officers to do “whatever the hell they want,” as he calls for them to remove people experiencing homelessness and to “take our capital back.”
