Republicans are running a coordinated power grab. Texas is the launchpad.

At Donald Trump’s direction, Texas Republicans are attempting to advance
congressional maps built to tilt the 2026 midterms in their favor. The aim
is simple. Shrink the power of communities of color, young voters, and
working people, and lock in an agenda that cannot win in a fair election.
Republicans know their only path to retaining power is by rigging the
rules in their favor.

Democrats are fighting back. Texas House Democrats are denying quorum to
block this scheme. Governor Gavin Newsom in California and Governor Kathy
Hochul in New York are matching Texas’s power grab with redistricting of
their own. We oppose gerrymandering – but we will not roll over. If
Republicans attempt to rig the game, we will meet them move for move to
neutralize their efforts. Now it is our turn to add people power in every
state.

Join People For and our allies at the National Day of Action this
Saturday, August 16. Stand up to the Republican takeover. Texas will
anchor the day at the Capitol in Austin. Across the country, we are
gathering at statehouses, city halls, and community spaces to send a clear
message. We will not let Republicans steal Congress.

Why your voice matters on August 16

* Visibility moves votes. Lawmakers and the press take notice when
thousands show up.
* Pressure stops bad maps. Public outcry raises the cost of ramming
through partisan lines.
* Community builds power. When we stand together, volunteers and voters
multiply.

Bring a sign. Bring friends. Bring your voice. If you have not been to a
rally before, this is the moment. If you have, bring someone new. Speak to
local reporters. Share photos and video on social media (and tag People
For in your posts!). Let neighbors know what is at stake and how to join
you.

This is bigger than Texas. The Voting Rights Act is under sustained
attack. Republicans are testing what they can get away with. We will meet
that test with turnout, truth, and resolve.

Be there this Saturday, August 16. Together we will defend the vote,
protect our rights, and stop this power grab before it spreads.
