This historic fundraiser will be hosted just a few miles away from my grandparents' family farm, a place that was instrumental in my life and to me, exemplifies the grit and determination of Iowans.

Back in 2016, Grandma Fern asked me to move back home to take care of the family farm. Moving back home was one of the best decisions I made, and it laid the foundation for where we are today.

As I shared last week, my grandmother — who is my biggest inspiration — spent her life in the classroom as a 5th grade teacher. We weren’t rich, but we were wealthy; wealthy in love and compassion for one another and the community around us. My mother, like my grandmother, spent her career in the classroom, and they are two of the reasons I am as passionate about education today.

We need leaders who are fighting for everyday Iowans like my mom and grandma. Whether putting in the hours in the classroom or on the farm, every Iowan deserves a fair shot at a successful future. But the tax breaks for billionaires, letting corporate power run amok, reckless tariffs, and attacks on education by the Trump administration put that all at risk.

We need to fight back. Are you with me?
