Hi folks, it’s Martin O’Malley, former commissioner of the Social Security Administration, and I’m reaching out today on the 90th anniversary of Social Security.
On August 14th, 1935, President Franklin D. Roosevelt signed landmark legislation establishing the Social Security Administration to ensure future generations have the same opportunities and resources as those that came before them.
Today, more than 70 million Americans rely on Social Security — including more than 687,000 Iowans.
Social Security is a vital program in our country, but the GOP is actively trying to gut and privatize it. No one deserves to lose access to essential benefits, especially not so billionaires can get more tax cuts.
I’m taking the fight to battleground states to make sure we can protect Social Security for our seniors today, and future generations to come. That’s why I’m teaming up with the Iowa Democratic Party and coming to Iowa with my org Win Back Our Country tomorrow!
I’ve been traveling across the Midwest the past few days, and I’m thrilled to make a stop in Des Moines. With three ultra-competitive House races, and one top Senate race, there’s a strong opportunity to elect hardworking Democrats who will fight for Social Security in Washington.
IDP is boosting Democratic candidates who will defend Social Security, and the fight for these protections has never been more important. That’s why I’m personally asking: will you chip in $25 to the Iowa Democratic Party before I come to Iowa tomorrow? [[link removed]]
