NASN2026 Call for Conference Presentation Submissions Open

School nurses—share your expertise for in-person NASN2026, to be held June 28-July 2, 2026, in Las Vegas! The deadline for submissions is Friday, October 10, 2025, by 12 p.m. (noon) ET.

2026 Recommendation: NASN recommends inclusion of the Social Drivers of Health in your abstract as they relate to the research/work you are planning on presenting.

2026 Requirements:

1. ALL presentations being submitted must be presented by or co-presented by a current or former school nurse to embody or demonstrate the application of the topic content to school nursing.
2. ALL presentations must include a brief discussion of the topic’s connection to NASN’s School Nursing Practice Framework^TM.

Supporting the Mental Health Needs of Youth with Epilepsy

Youth with epilepsy (YWE) report significantly higher rates of anxiety and depression than youth without epilepsy. NASN's new Mental Health Toolkit for School Nurses Caring for Students with Epilepsy provides practical resources to inform school nursing practice in caring for mental health conditions in YWE in the school setting. Built on the nursing process, it offers actionable guidance for assessment, care planning, and family engagement.

School nurses are invited to join CALM (Enhancing the Capacity of School Nurses to Reduce Child Anxiety), a U.S. Department of Education–funded research project comparing two brief, evidence-based interventions to reduce anxiety symptoms and improve academic functioning in children ages 5–12. Participants receive free virtual training, supervision, intervention materials, and up to $225 in compensation during the first year. Interested? According to the CDC, as of August 5, 2025, a total of 1,356 confirmed measles cases were reported by 41 jurisdictions. Thanks to the measles vaccine, cases have dropped by 99% over the last century.
