Friends,
My first real job was as a cashier. I was a first-generation college student, and I never imagined running for office. But I knew I wanted to help others.
I first ran because I realized that representation is about being fluent in the day-to-day struggles of the people you seek to represent, and I believed I was capable of advocating for and bringing about the transformative change my community needed. We've made so much progress toward that change together -- but corporate donors hell-bent on preserving the very status quo that I came to Congress to put an end to are determined to stop our movement.
My team has set a goal to raise $50,000 before the end of the quarter on Tuesday so that we have resources to keep fighting for the bold, progressive change people are counting on. Will you step up by making your a contribution today? Donate: [link removed]
Our movement has been told time and time again that the progress we're fighting for is unrealistic -- radical even. But too many of us know what it's like to go without healthcare or struggle to pay off student debt or afford the rent, and we know that a better future is not only possible but what we deserve. We know what kind of change is needed because we've lived through struggles Wall Street couldn't even imagine -- and we know that for our country to truly thrive, we have to build a nation where everyone has a fair shot at the American Dream.
As corporate interests push back against our movement's progress, it's more important than ever to make sure we have the resources we need to keep fighting for bold, progressive change that puts people first. Chip in whatever you can toward our $50,000 end-of-quarter goal to help make that happen: [link removed]
Our fight for a better America has only just begun, and united, we are going to show everyone that our people-powered movement is here to stay.
In solidarity,
Ilhan Omar
