Deploying the military in our nation’s capital. Suppressing dissent and independent media. Gutting nonpartisan federal agencies. Trump is escalating his authoritarian actions quickly, and I don’t like where this is going.

But his latest escalations have come just after the Administration’s refusal to release the Epstein files and the ensuing controversy. This timing is not a coincidence.

Trump’s Attorney General told him that his name was in the files. Since then his presidency has gotten really ugly, even by Trump standards. We’re seeing one authoritarian crackdown after another. 

Trump is cracking down on dissent right as he’s exposed for who we’ve all known him to be. It’s a scary time. But there’s a way forward. 

First, we need to absolutely wipe the floor with the GOP in this November’s New Jersey elections. We need to send a clear message that MAGA is not welcome in the Garden State. 

Then, we need to get back to work—organizing and pushing back at every juncture against Trump’s fascism. 

And finally, in November of 2026, we need to unleash a blue wave all around the country in the midterm elections. And that starts with holding competitive seats like this one.
