Team, in one of the most outrageous abuses of government power we’ve seen, the Trump administration falsely declared 6,300 legally present immigrants dead, and then quietly flagged their Social Security numbers as “unverified.”

Their goal is to intimidate them into self-deporting.

These are our neighbors. Our coworkers. Parents raising their children. And now, they could be locked out of basic life necessities. This action could bar them from receiving federal benefits, working, or opening a bank account, and could even cut their citizen children off from survivor benefits in the event of their death.

I’m calling on the Trump administration to restore these wrongfully flagged Social Security numbers immediately.

This is a targeted attack.
